Pick Your Marriage out of a Line-up

Warning #1: This post contains Pride and Prejudice spoilers.

Warning #2: This post contains another scene from Adam & Missy's bedroom.

Warning #3: I have not seen the Pride & Prejudice movie, nor have I read the book. Therefore, my only knowledge of Pride & Prejudice is based on the 1995 BBC/A&E mini-series.

Okay, I know that this will be my second post about the mini-series Pride & Prejudice but I really like it, and I have been watching it every night for the past week. Actually, this happens whenever Missy and I try and watch a movie before bed. We always fall asleep and then the next night as we are getting ready for bed, Missy and I will compare notes as to when both of us fell asleep and which scene we should restart watching the movie. On average, it takes us about 3 to 5 nights to finish a 2 -hour movie. So as you can imagine, watching a 6-hour mini-series takes us forever. This week, this is how many of our conversations went:

Pride & Prejudice-Night 2

Missy: "During which scene did you fall asleep last night?"

Adam: "The one where Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley were on horseback and Mr. Bingley was trying to decide whether or not to rent Netherfield."

Missy: "uh, you know that's the very first scene, right?"

Adam: "what are you trying to say?"

Pride & Prejudice-Night 3

Missy: "During which scene did you fall asleep last night?"

Adam: "The one where the Bennet Family is walking home from church and Mrs. Bennet is trying to talk Mr. Bennet into calling on Mr. Bingley."

Missy: "uh, you know, this is going to take forever?"

Pride & Prejudice-Night 26

Missy: "During which scene did you fall asleep last night?"

Adam: "The one where Mr. Darcy declares his love for Lizzie and proposes.”

Missy: "The first time or the second time?"

Adam: “There’s a second time?!!! Thanks for ruining it for me!!!”

Missy: “No, I did not!!! You have seen this thousands of times"

Adam: "Yeah, but I don’t think that I have ever made it to the end."

So now that I have given you another sneak peak into the exciting world that is Adam & Missy's bedroom, I thought that it would be fun to play a game. I think that any married man that watches this mini-series probably can't help but ask himself, "Am I a 'Mr. Darcy' or am I a 'Mr. Collins' to my wife?" And perhaps, married women ask themselves, "Am I a 'Lizzie Bennet' or am I a 'Charlotte Lucas' to my husband?" And maybe we even have some Mr. & Mrs. Bennets out there? So here is your chance to pick your marriage out of a lineup (I am totally steeling this idea from Puntabulous!!):

Are you and your spouse Mr. Darcy and Lizzie? Are you guys the stars of your very own romance story? Did you loathe each other, then slowly warm up until your passion was bubbling cauldron of steamy romance?

Or maybe you guys are Mr. Collins and Charlotte? The safe play. Who needs true love when your future security and comfort are at stake?

Or perhaps you guys are Mr. & Mrs. Wickham? The womanizing rapscallion and the hopeless flirt that loves him?

Maybe it was love at first sight - like Mr. Bingley and his lovely bride?

Or maybe - my personal favorites - Mr. & Mrs. Bennet? The crazy Mrs. Bennet and the man that seems to enjoy making her that way. Now I am not saying that Missy and I are Mr. & Mrs. Bennet, but I do admire the way that the wisecracking Mr. Bennet can really push her buttons.

Or perhaps you just haven't met that person that is up to your standards quite yet? It is tough to find the right person when everyone you seem to meet is beneath you.

Technically, that last one is not a marriage but I wanted to throw something out there for the single folks that read this blog. I look forward to your comments.
